SFU Contemporary Arts
hey, what are you doing on April 9th??
now

Our Project Description

Set in the convocation mall, this event includes a projection setup, comfortable seating, and free snacks. A group of 14 SFU performance students led this recorded and documented social event to encourage community and the effects of doomscrolling.

During the event, students are invited to join in with their own personal devices, participate in doomscrolling, and share their algorithm with the live-stream projected video display.

Over the duration of the event, the student organizers will form staged tableaux and choreography to silently interrupt the norm of the event.

From this collaboration of community engagement, public performance art, and social media streaming, this event aims to explore the aesthetics of doomscrolling by asking how isolated internet behaviour lives in a communal environment.
